Who doesn’t love games?!? I don’t think I can name one person that is my age who doesn’t enjoy playing video games online or offline, it’s just a fact of life! Between the DS lites and the Xbox 360s there’s no denying that gaming is a large part of a lot of people’s lives. According to market researcher David Cole, who runs the firm DFC Intelligence, his best estimate is that 40 percent of U.S. households own a working video-game console. Michael Pachter, an analyst for Wedbush Morgan Securities, estimates that 52 percent of households own consoles. Neither Cole nor Pachter is counting handheld devices, such as Nintendo’s Game Boy or Sony’s PlayStation Portable (PSP). Whether it’s 40% or 52% those are still pretty large percentages regarding ownership of gaming consoles!

The only downside to teasing us with all these new gaming capabilities is the price. Wii, for example, has been out for a while now and it still costs a few hundred bucks to buy one of these things. I even tried eBay, one of my all time favorite stores and the price can go up to $4,000 when bidding! That, to me, is just ridiculous. I would never pay that much for a system, ever! Sony Playstation 3 comes in at around $400 on a site like Best Buy, and Xbox 360 comes in at around $260 for a regular Xbox 360 and at around $400 for an Elite. The games aren’t much better heading in at around $40-$100 per game depending on its popularity and if it’s a special “limited” game.

So, what exactly are people supposed to do? Just not buy these consoles or games? No! Here’s what I do, I visit sites that have cheap or discount games and consoles. This allows you to buy the same exact quality assurance product at a store such as Best Buy but not pay an arm and a leg for the product. For example, a PS3 at a discount store will cost somewhere around $284 compared to other predecessors such as Best Buy for $400. That is sick! In this case, you could buy a discount PS3 for you and a friend and just top the price of one PS3 at Best Buy. The same goes for the top PS3 games. For example, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue (PS3) cost about $40 at Best Buy, and at discount stores about $20! That’s a $20 savings difference! Alright, let’s try for top PS3 accessories. The Logitech Driving Force Pro Wheel (PS3) From Logitech (yes the discount sites sell everything the regular stores do) which cost about $150 in retail stores and $75 in discount store. That’s pretty incredible.

So, really, which choice is the best choice? Really, I would go for the discount store. You can have all the same high quality products the regular stores sell, for a fraction of the price, and who doesn’t love saving money?!? Try it out for yourself so you can see exactly what I mean. The future of Search

Many are asking where we go from here with regard to the next generation of search. Google Yahoo and MSN are running in the same horse race with Google far in front Yahoo a distant second and live barely out of the gate.

Some say things are fine now, there is no need for change as we have become accustomed to a Google world. This Google world that still bases its rankings on link strength and key words. There are perhaps more than one hundred other parameters that are used for final rankings but the main ingredients are still links and keywords. What this means simply is that if a site can appear on many powerful sites Google Yahoo and MSN will think that the site itself is a powerful one.

The internet geeks among us call this link juice, the more link Juice the better it is for the site. Google will then give the site a high page rank and also rank the site high for selected keywords. Sounds great doesn’t it? It would work if manipulators would not try to artificially change results. That’s where the trouble starts as links are bought and sold by almost everyone. The most successful internet marketing companies are the best at fooling Google into thinking bought links are real natural links.

Google will of course deny all this and will say that bought links are not counted and that they have developed tools to spot such unethical practices. They of course know the truth . Thats if a linking campaign is done carefully enough. No one will be able to figure out that the links are not real. That is why new search options are being introduced to try to give the user real results based on real factors and not artificial ones. Some of these sites offer a aggregate
search machine, personnel content search and even predicted search based on statistical data. Some new startup search sites have entered this realm and are gaining recognition as revolutionaries The manipulators will have much more difficulty with these new systems as they are less link based and more client friendly.

These different new systems are attemptiong to wrench search from the mammoths back to the simple user.

Thats going to be the future of search. Its closer than we think.

Compatibility

Most IP camera recording software supports a wide range of IP camera models and manufacturers. This allows you to mix and match IP cameras in your installation to create a custom surveillance solution that fits perfectly for you.

Let’s say you wanted to setup three IP surveillance cameras, one viewing a parking lot, one watching your front lobby and another monitoring the rear entrance of your building. You could put three different IP camera models – even manufacturers – in this installation. You could go with an IQEye 755 5.0 MegaPixel IP Camera in the parking lot to monitor vehicles and provide a high quality image to zoom in on license plates. You could put a Wireless AXIS 207W with audio in the front lobby to minimize cabling requirements and to provide audio surveillance. Lastly, you can use a Sony SNC-RZ25N PTZ IP Camera with an outdoor enclosure to monitor the rear entrance and have the ability to pan/tilt/zoom the camera to needed areas.

All three IP cameras can be easily connected to the local network and configured within the IP camera recording software to monitor and record each individual camera.

BNC/Analog Output

Some IP cameras also come with a BNC/Analog output allowing you to connect the camera to your existing CCTV system. This would allow you to connect the IP camera to your DVR recording station and still have a network connection attached allowing for remote viewing and recording to a PC or offsite location. Be sure to verify the IP camera has the ability to send video to both the BNC/Analog output and through the network simultaneously.

PoE Power over Ethernet

Power over Ethernet (PoE) is the ability to power your IP camera and provide network activity via one RJ45 network cable. This provides an easier installation and lower cable installation costs as this eliminates the need for a power cable to be connected to the camera. To take advantage of this technology, make sure your IP camera is PoE compliant. A PoE network router/hub or Midspan will be required to provide power to the camera via the RJ45 network cable. PoE kits are also available which provide power via network cable when you do not have a Midspan or router/hub. One PoE kit will be required per camera and will need to output the correct power requirements (5V, 9V, 12V, etc.).

I/O for Card Readers, Alarms, etc.

IP cameras can easily be added to existing security including card readers, alarms, glass breakers, access control, etc.. The IP camera can be set to receive an input from these devices which can then tell the camera to record video when a specific event is triggered. Outputs can also be set where if the IP camera detects motion, a signal is sent to the alarm to create an audio siren or alert.
